Quota Crap

Can we ever have a secular integrated India? Well, ET has opened a debate on "Is Premji right to go against job quotas in Wipro?" As expected most of the posts agree with him... here is someone who put his point in a very diff way..........

DISCLAIMER: The below material is NOT mine. It was fwded to me on email. But having suffered the Quota crap all through my student life, I fully sympathize with the feeling. Read on below.

================================

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly:
The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century.

We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics:

In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters. There can be reservation in Government jobs also.

Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country.. ) {This one is truly hilarious :-D}

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward... Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN.. May the good breed of politicians like ARJUN SINGH long live... So, what do you think, huh???

Abrasive Humor

A little bit of an oxymoron isn't it. I don't understand how humor can be abrasive. Satire, I understand....Sarcasm.... also allowed as long as it doesn't get out of hand. Lampooning.....understandable. In fact these are some of the occupational hazards of being a celebrity.

But what about a situation where you make a joke out of the person such that its demeans the person in public. And just because the subject doesnot choose to react.......he/she is considered weak(???) or plain stupid. I just don't get that.

One should be able to take a joke - My personal belief......but how do you stop someone when the joke's gone too far. Of course you can always confront the person head on.....but then is that the best solution always........Not so sure about that. Then how do you stop such a person...if you are not equally witty. I have no idea..................I just ignore such people. If they get the idea, then fine......otherwise put on a pair of headphones...and switch on your MP3 palyer....to drown out the unwanted noise(an oxymoron again :-D).......

To me humor should be something that both parties enjoy......It has never struck me to use humor to hurt someone. Just my two bit. If anyone feels otherwise.....please do comment.

Ek Rishta

Well, today is a day worth recording....after much to and fro...I am finally cleared to be engaged. Wasn't too much keen on the ceremony as such....haven't really been ceremonically-inclined. But then if it brings some joy to the mater et pater....why not.

My folks sure were delighted when I ACTUALLY decided to get married. They were kinda worried where I would bring my to-be bride from....and I was equally adamant of finiding one on my own........Even put in an advert at shaadi.com......but things didnt work out. I guess having a matrimonial ad, listing your occupation as "Student" is really not very prudent advertising.

Anyways things didnt work out on the shaadi.com website.....and then Singapore happened...

When I went back home for the Xmas vacs....Mom and Pop had done some research.....and the standard Beta-we-have-a-nice-girl-for-you conversation started, inevitably(might I add). As expected I started with my whining about how my likes and dislikes are different etc etc.....But then I agreed.....one more trip would do me no harm. Besides I got a chance to drive my beloved "Ferrari" ....."Ferrari" is a 1978 Premier...all white....typical Dad car. I was born in 1977...so figure.

When I saw Vaishali for the first time, I was really struck by her poise and confidence. Not like the other girls I had seen...who thought the floor was more interesting than I. I know I am not exactly Brad Pitt....but finding polished granite more interesting....doesn't exactly work wonders for your ego. Anyways we had a chair covered by some fundu looking material where her highness deigned to sit...directly opposite me(which was engineered again).....Spoke to Vaishali after that for a few minutes. Got back home. I conveyed my consent to my M and P...who in turn conveyed it to her M and P. And so here we are.....finally to be bethrothed on June 16. Maybe wed sometime early in 2007.
